About a year ago, I was celebrating my 15 year anniversary at a job in Finance that I never intended to become a career. Realizing I have about 25 years left before retirement, it hit me like a ton of bricks that a change in path could be possible. It was a bit of a midlife crisis. So after a serious discussion with my husband about quitting my job and going back to school, here I am!

My family is full of educators. My mother spent her career as a Special Ed EA in classrooms with severely mentally and physically challenged children.  My mother-in-law was a teacher and elementary school principal in inner-city Toronto, and my father-in-law was a teacher and middle school counsellor, also in Toronto. I’m a mother of two, who each have their own challenges with school and learning. It was a natural step to check out becoming an educator too, and I have no regrets.
